Fully managed payments

Fully managed payments: FastStar sells on your behalf

In fully managed mode, FastStar becomes the seller of record (Merchant of Record) — the entity that sells your product to the end customer and is responsible for collecting payment and remitting taxes. So the tax, compliance and settlement burden shifts from you to us.

What the platform does for you

You create — we handle the rest

As your seller of record, FastStar takes on everything behind a global sale — collecting payment, tax, settlement, refunds and invoices. Here is each thing we handle for you.

Collect the payment

Buyers pay on your branded checkout and we collect as the seller of record — major cards, 3DS and local payment methods, settled in the buyer’s currency.

Remit global taxes

We calculate, collect and remit VAT / GST / sales tax by buyer location across the EU 27, UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and 90+ tax regions.

Settlement & payouts

Proceeds net of tax and fees are credited to your balance, then paid out to your bank account on a schedule through a compliant, multi-currency payout network.

Refunds, disputes & invoices

Refunds, chargebacks and compliant invoices are managed in one place and included in your transaction fee — no separate tax engine or invoicing tool.

Subscriptions & one-time

Plans, trials, usage billing and auto-renewals alongside one-off products, license keys and downloads — sold from one catalog and one checkout.

White-label throughout

Buyers and merchants only ever see FastStar and your brand. Third-party processors live on our servers — you never touch Stripe or need a Stripe account.

The trade-off with Direct

Should you choose fully managed or Direct/PSP?

The vast majority of creators, indie developers and SaaS teams choose fully managed. Direct is only for established businesses with their own acquiring who need funds settled directly.

Buyers and merchants never see a third party

In both fully managed and Direct mode, you integrate only with our own JS / Flutter SDK and hosted checkout. Any third-party processor stays hidden behind our servers.

Your buyers see

A checkout and invoice under your brand, powered by FastStar — no external redirects and no third-party logos.

You, as the merchant, see

One dashboard for subscriptions, orders, settlement and verification — with no Stripe account to create or integrate.

The definition, in plain terms

Every sale has a seller of record — the party legally responsible to the buyer and to tax authorities. Normally that is you. As a small creator or SaaS team, that means you would have to register for VAT and sales tax in dozens of jurisdictions, charge the right rate to each buyer, file returns, and stay current as rules change.

Fully managed payments let the platform take on that role. FastStar appears as the seller, issues the invoice, collects the payment and the correct tax, and remits that tax to the authorities. You sell to FastStar’s platform; FastStar sells to your customer.

Why creators and SaaS choose fully managed

The number one reason is global tax compliance. Selling digital products internationally exposes you to VAT in the EU, GST in several countries and sales tax across US states — each with its own thresholds, registration rules and filing cadence. Doing this yourself is expensive and risky. When the platform is fully managed, it simply happens.

The second reason is speed. With FastStar’s fully managed mode, onboarding is self-serve: you sign up, verify your identity online, and start selling — no lengthy waiting period. That is the same model creators love about Lemon Squeezy and Paddle, with a checkout and SDK that are fully your own brand.

The third reason is consolidation. Refunds, chargebacks, disputes, invoicing and payouts are all handled in one place, under one fee, instead of being spread across a payment processor, a tax engine, a billing tool and a payout provider.

How tax compliance works under FastStar

At checkout, we detect the buyer’s location and apply the correct VAT, GST or sales tax for that jurisdiction. We collect that tax as part of the transaction and hold it separately from your revenue.

On the required cadence for each jurisdiction, FastStar files and remits the collected tax to the relevant authority under our own registrations. You never register abroad, never file a foreign return, and never reconcile tax rates. We maintain coverage across 90+ tax regions and keep rates current as legislation changes.

The result is that the revenue credited to your balance is already net of tax — clean income — and your customers receive a compliant, properly taxed invoice.

Fully managed vs Direct/PSP — which should you choose?

Choose fully managed (the default) if you want the fastest path to selling worldwide with zero tax and compliance overhead. It suits the vast majority of creators, indie developers and SaaS teams, and you can be live in minutes.

Choose Direct/PSP only if you are an established business with your own acquiring relationships and a reason to settle funds directly and control routing. It requires a business review before activation and takes longer to set up. In both modes you use the same FastStar-branded checkout and SDK and never need a Stripe account.
